The Right Fit Community (Based in Auburn/Opelika AL)

A community for adults (18+) with social fears, difficulties, and differences who need a place to connect, socialize, meet new friends, and just fit in!

The Right Fit Community is a place where you can truly belong among people who won’t pressure you to be socially perfect. Whether you are shy, socially anxious, socially awkward, or Autistic with low support needs, the meet-ups I host every month provide you with low-pressure, judgement-free social environments in which you can have fun while also building your social confidence and make new friends in the Auburn/Opelika area alongside other adults who understand you. Neurodivergent or otherwise, this community is the perfect fit for you!

Here’s what this community offers:

  • Monthly in-person meet-ups held on Monday, Friday, and Saturday evenings (occasionally Saturday afternoons) where you can connect and socialize with other members, including Gaming Night: Sip & Play (held every other month), Pottery Painting Night, and Chit Chat & Chill over coffee or wine (includes icebreaker activities and conversational topics for those who need it). Registration is free but you will be expected to pay your way at the businesses and establishments we frequent, whether it’s paying for your own food, coffee, wine selections, pottery pieces, etc.

  • Access to the private GroupMe where you can digitally connect with members and remain engaged in-between meet-ups

  • The feeling of truly belonging somewhere without the constant fear of rejection and judgement

I’m Caroline, your event facilitator and the “misfit” behind this brand!

I am not a therapist, psychologist, or expert in anything: I’m just an introverted woman with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 1, who became socially confident in a way that works for my needs and abilities. My social difficulties contributed to my severe social anxiety for years, but after I became more socially confident in a way that didn’t require me to be fake or insincere, I created my brand, The Introverted Misfit, to help other shy, socially awkward, OR Autistic adults (low support needs) become socially confident without acting like someone they’re not.

Caroline Smith, Meet-Up Organizer & Facilitator

The Right Fit Community is not just about building social confidence — it’s about fostering community!

Although I offer 1-on-1 coaching to shy and awkward (or autistic) people, these events are not strictly about socializing; this is community-building, because I believe real social confidence comes with real-life connections without feeling the need to be someone you’re not.

In my organized meet-ups and events, I facilitate an environment in which you can socialize without being someone you’re not in low-pressure judgement-free environment among like-minded people. It's like a social group but a little different, because instead of hosting meet-ups solely in closed rooms, we participate in the community by going to different places in the Auburn/Opelika area.

Why are my meet-ups so much better than regular social outings?

This is not just a random hangout session with strangers. These are organized and facilitated meet-ups and events specifically designed to help adults with various social inhibitions build their social confidence with me — someone who has been exactly where you are right now — and other individuals who may have similar struggles, and you can make new friends in the process. This creates less stressful social environments in which you can truly be yourself without fear of judgement. Plus, we'll have lots of fun going to different establishments around the town!

FAQs

    1. Consider contributing towards the community meet-up planning fund which will go towards space reservations, food catering, and more supplies that keep these meet-ups fun and engaging for everyone! I don’t do these meet-ups for profit, so any amount really helps me out!

    2. Tell your friends, family & colleagues all about The Right Fit Community so we can reach more people! The best place to send them is this page you’re currently on: theintrovertedmisfit.com/the-right-fit-community

  • No. While I tend to attract many introverts because of my business and the work I do, you do not have to identify as an introvert to come. These meet-ups are for anyone who struggles socially and wants to improve — extrovert or introvert alike.

  • No, being neurodivergent is not a requirement. While many of my meet-up attendees are either Autistic with low support needs, ADHD, or otherwise, many are not; they just relate to feeling out of place in typical social environments.

  • These meet-ups are more suited towards Autistic people with low communication support needs who want to become more comfortable in social situations. This means people who have communication and social differences. However, while I don’t have the resources nor qualifications to provide care for Autistic adults with substantial physical needs by myself, you are welcome to accompany your loved one to any of the meet-ups you think are well-suited for their needs.

If you are looking for more tailored resources and services for your loved one, here are a few to check out:

  • Some meet-ups will be held at different businesses and establishments in the Auburn/Opelika area so that we can socialize in real-life environments. This includes places where you can paint pottery, create art, hike/walk, eat, and more.

Other meet-ups and events will be held in more private settings where we can do more focused socializing in calmer environments.

  • Yes, joining is free and can be done by entering your name and email address in the form on this page (scroll up), but for the monthly meet-ups, you will be expected to pay your way at the businesses and establishments we frequent, whether it’s paying for your own food, coffee, wine selections, pottery pieces, etc.

Other non-meet-up events I may host like workshops and trainings may require a cost.

  • Just unsubscribe from my emails and you will no longer receive my notifications about meet-ups and events. That will officially remove you from the community.

  • No problem - just email me using the form on my contact page and ask away!
